The 1,750-acre site features a restored 1850s farmhouse that was once used as a field hospital and now houses a museum; the pastoral, now-peaceful battlefield; and hiking, biking and horse riding trails.
The Ozark Mountains, which encompass most of southwestern Missouri, offer Battlefield residents additional outdoor sports opportunities, including hiking, rock-climbing, fly-fishing and kayaking. There are also six recreational lakes within an hour's drive of Battlefield.
