In an effort to meet the fast growing demands of the information age, a leading Springfield Realtor® announced the launch of Text-My-MLS, a service offering a high tech marketing tool for sellers while serving the instant need-to-know mentality of home buyers.
Randy Thomas, head of Team Randy Thomas of Murney Associates, a seven-member real estate group, is first in the area to use the new feature, allowing home buyers to receive free listing information for “For Sale” properties, right to their cell phones.
The new (and resourceful) marking tool puts a modern twist on the forgone method of promoting a home. These “virtual flyers” allow buyers to receive property information via text, eliminating the need for flyer boxes and reams of paper; an important aspect for Team Thomas and their “Going Green” campaign.
While the eco-friendly and technologically-driven service benefits all parties of a real estate transaction, it is especially appealing to home sellers in the Ozarks.
A sign rider is attached to the “For Sale” yard sign, which gives a number for buyers to text. Within seconds of texting the number, the buyer receives real-time property information right to their mobile phone – including photos, a full property description, and links to a virtual tour, map and even school information.
“Texting is no longer a teenage past time. It is fast developing into a mainstream marketing tool that is highly affordable for those who need to market their products or services,” says Thomas. “It also serves as an instant information system for consumers seeking free information prior to a purchase.”
“Buyers no longer have to wait to get to their computers to pull up a home they drove by,” says Sally Klein, Team Thomas Buyer Specialist. “The reality is, by the time they get home, that instant excitement is gone and their desire to research it further has diminished. This serves a buyer’s need for instant information.”
SMS (text messaging) is a growing communication medium as evidenced by growth year after year. As of December 2009, over 152 billion text messages were sent every month – with an annual usage of 1.56 Trillion text messages, according to CITA, the International Wireless Association.
SMS is also the only universal mobile platform for the masses. It does not require special equipment, as it is already available on over 98% of all cell phones.
